Maid of honor and “the best man”

Well, first I thought I would just translate the German text I wrote but then I found that “wedding party participants” sounded weird and I call this part of the page “maid of honor and the best man”. Here it goes...

Maid of honor and “the best man”

To make sure that we would do the right thing in picking these two important people we decided to ask somebody who knew more about life than both of us together.

Back in the days when you had life-changing questions like this, you just asked a wise old man. Well, I thought, I know just the right person to ask!
But even asking my Dad did not bring the answer we had hoped for, which is why we decided to do the one thing we had learned to do, we turned to the omniscient internet.

All the websites seemed to know something different, though.

One said that these two people that we were about to pick, would be the (!) most important people of our lives. Another mentioned that it wouldn’t matter whom we’d pick since nobody cared anyway...

One site said to appoint (yeah, they “appoint” them, they don’t even ask anymore...) a family member, the next would rather recommend to pick a good friend.
Maybe a neighbor, a distant relative, the best friend, a sibling, or maybe nobody at all. Because there are no “wedding party participants” needed anymore since 1998. Well if for nothing else, that is what I learned from the omniscient internet that day.

The longer I sat there scrolling through different pages, I found that there wasn’t anybody who would help us find the two people we should ask to stand by our sides at this most important day of our lives.

Taking a moment to myself I thought of the one person that has always been there and will be for the rest of my life. It is not exactly a “maid of honor” but I am sure he’d look great in a pink dress and high heels. :)

 For Alex it wasn’t hard either. Who would be better to “hold hands with” than the best friend and basketball homie?

So what else should go wrong now that even our “best men” have the same name - Christian and Christian!

And maybe with this text we can add our share to the omniscient internet... :)
